How to use this tool
Choose 1–1,000 dice and 2–1,000 sides per die. Six sides is the usual board-game die, but other sizes work the same way.
How it works
Each die is an independent uniform integer from 1 through the chosen number of sides. The total is the sum of all dice; totals themselves are not equally likely.
Example
Two six-sided dice can show 3 and 5, totaling 8. There are 36 equally likely ordered pairs, but not equally likely totals.

Frequently asked questions
Is a total of 7 as likely as 2?
No. Two six-sided dice make 7 in six ordered ways and 2 in only one. Each individual die is uniform.
